DO YOU HAVE AUDITION PREPARATORY CLINICS THAT I CAN ATTEND?
Yes, clinics are generally held prior to Auditions. Sessions generally run for two hours and are optional. Attendance is strongly recommended. The Clinics are a great way to see how fast you can pick up on the Hawks choreography, as well as interact with current team members.
WHAT ARE YOUR HEIGHT AND WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS?
We do not have any. Applicants should be in top physical condition.
DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR PARKING?
Due to events taking place downtown, please be prepared to pay for parking.
WHAT IS THE AGE LIMIT?
You must be at least 19 years of age.
WHAT DO THE JUDGES LOOK FOR AT AUDITIONS?
The judges look at your appearance, showmanship, dance ability, poise, and personality.
WHAT IS THE ATTIRE FOR AUDITIONS?
Each participant should wear a two piece outfit, sports bra/halter and boy shorts/briefs. Wear shoes that are suitable for dancing/cheering, tennis shoes or dance sneakers.
WHERE ARE AUDITIONS HELD?
The preliminary round will be held on the Hawks practice court at Philips Arena. The final round location will be announced at a later date.
CAN MY FAMILY COME AND WATCH AUDITIONS?
Preliminary auditions are closed to the public, but the final auditions may be open to the public.
DO CURRENT TEAM MEMBERS HAVE TO RE-AUDITION?
Yes, all members must go through the audition process each season and are not guaranteed their place on the team.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE INTERVIEW PROCESS?
Be prepared to introduce yourself and provide an overview of your background, education, future goals, etc. Review your Hawks trivia and basketball knowledge.
WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE FOR AUDITIONS?
You will want to ensure that you are in the best physical shape prior to auditions. Interested participants are strongly encouraged to have a work out plan that includes some physical activity at least three-four times a week. Team members are required to be in top physical shape. While weight is not taken into account, physical fitness is. Dance skills should be updated as well. Interested participants may want to enroll in a variety of dance classes to make sure they are up to speed on all types of dance styles.
HOW SHOULD I FIX MY HAIR AND MAKE-UP?
Your make-up should be glamorous, complimentary and appropriate for an athletic environment! Auditions are not like a dance class. Your hair and makeup need to be performance quality (no pony tails). A hairstyle that is up-to-date and one that compliments your features should be worn.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT? IS THIS A FULL-TIME JOB?
No, being an A-Town Dancer is not a full-time job. Most of our team members have full-time or part-time jobs. The time commitment is usually 9 hours a week of rehearsal time, in addition to promotional appearances. During the season, this number may increase to 20 hours a week.
