FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS THE AGE LIMIT?

You must be at least 6 years of age, and no older than 14 years of age by November 1, 2009.

WHAT DO THE JUDGES LOOK FOR AT AUDITIONS?

The judges will be looking at your showmanship, dance ability, as well as personality, excitement, and ability to perform in front of a crowd of people. Dancers do not need to have a routine prepared for auditions.

HOW LONG WILL AUDITIONS LAST?

Plan on staying at least four hours.

CAN MY FAMILY COME AND WATCH AUDITIONS?

No. Auditions are closed to public attendance. Only accompanying parents and/or guardians are allowed to stay.

DO FORMER JUNIOR TEAM MEMBERS HAVE TO RE-AUDITION?

Yes, all members must go through the audition process each season and are not guaranteed their place on the team.

WHAT CAN I DO TO PREPARE FOR AUDITIONS?

Be yourself and have fun!!! Work on stretching, kicks, turns and leaps. Candidates will need to be able to pick up choreography fairly quickly, and feel comfortable performing in front of a panel of judges.

IF I AM NOT SELECTED, MAY I CALL THE ATLANTA HAWKS OFFICE FOR FEEDBACK?

No. The judges’ sheets, comments and audition evaluations will not be available.

WHEN DO REHEARSALS BEGIN?

Rehearsals will begin in November for the 2009-2010.

WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?

Parents will need to be prepared to have their children attend weekly practices, which will last for 2 hours. Each practice will be taught by a member of the Atlanta Hawks A-Town Dancers. The team will perform for at least five (5) games during the 2009-2010 season.

WHAT IS THE COST INVOLVED?

Parents will also need to be prepared to pay a $250 one-time fee if son and/or daughter make the team. For games in which the junior team is performing, additional game tickets will be available for purchase.
